ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the treatment outcomes, prognosis, and risk factors of treatment failure of peritoneal dialysis associated peritonitis (PDAP) caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae, and thus provide clinical evidence for the prevention and treatment of this disease. Methods The clinical data of PDAP patients at four peritoneal dialysis centers from January 1,2014 to December 31,2019 were collected retrospectively. The treatment outcomes and prognosis were compared between the patients with PDAP caused by Klebsiella.pneumoniae and that caused by Escherichia coli.Kaplan-Meier method was employed to establish the survival curve of technical failure, and multivariate Logistic regression to analyze the risk factors of the treatment failure of PADP caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae. Results In the 4 peritoneal dialysis centers,1034 cases of PDAP occurred in 586 patients from 2014 to 2019,including 21 cases caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae and 98 cases caused by Escherichia coli. The incidence of Klebsiella pneumoniae caused PDAP was 0.0048 times per patient per year on average, ranging from 0.0024 to 0.0124 times per patient per year during 2014-2019.According to the Kaplan-Meier survival curve, the technical failure rate of Klebsiella pneumoniae caused PDAP was higher than that of Escherichia coli caused PDAP (P=0.022).The multivariate Logistic regression model showed that long-term dialysis was an independent risk factor for the treatment failure of Klebsiella pneumoniae caused PDAP (OR=1.082,95%CI=1.011-1.158,P=0.023).Klebsiella pneumoniae was highly sensitive to amikacin, meropenem, imipenem, piperacillin, and cefotetan, and it was highly resistant to ampicillin (81.82%),cefazolin (53.33%),tetracycline (50.00%),cefotaxime (43.75%),and chloramphenicol (42.86%). Conclusion The PDAP caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae had worse prognosis than that caused by Escherichia coli, and long-term dialysis was an independent risk factor for the treatment failure of Klebsiella pneumoniae caused PDAP.

ABSTRACT

Background@#It is well-established that serum testosterone in men decreases with age, yet the underlying mechanism of this change remains elusive. @*Methods@#The expression patterns of Fancd2 opposite-strand (Fancd2os) in BALB/c male mice and testicular tissue derived cell lines (GC-1, GC-2, TM3, and TM4) were assessed using real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), Western blot and immunofluorescence. The Fancd2os-overexpressing or knockdown TM3 cells were constructed by infecting them with lentivirus particles and were used to evaluated the function of Fancd2os. The testosterone production was measured using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and the steroidogenic enzymes such as steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR), P450 cholesterol side-chain cleavage (P450scc), and 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3β-HSD) were analysed using RT-PCR. The apoptosis of TM3 cells induced by ultraviolet light or testicular tissues was detected using flow cytometry, Western blot or dUTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) assays. Pearson correlation analysis was used to assess the correlation between the Fancd2os expression and TUNEL-positive staining in mouse testicular Leydig cells. @*Results@#The Fancd2os protein was predominantly expressed in mouse testicular Leydig cells and its expression increased with age. Fancd2os overexpression inhibited testosterone levels in TM3 Leydig cells, whereas knockdown of Fancd2os elevated testosterone production. Fancd2os overexpression downregulated the levels of StAR, P450scc and 3β-HSD, while Fancd2os knockdown reversed this effect. Fancd2os overexpression promoted ultraviolet light-induced apoptosis of TM3 cells. In contrast, Fancd2os knockdown restrained apoptosis in TM3 cells. In vivo assays revealed that higher Fancd2os levels and mouse age were associated with increased apoptosis in Leydig cells and decreased serum testosterone levels. Pearson correlation analysis exhibited a strong positive correlation between the expression of Fancd2os and TUNEL-positive staining in mouse testicular Leydig cells. @*Conclusion@#Our findings suggest that Fancd2os regulates testosterone synthesis via both steroidogenic enzymes and the apoptotic pathway.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To develop and validate a risk prediction model of treatment failure in patients with peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP).@*METHODS@#We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) in 3 dialysis centers in Jilin Province who developed PDAP between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2019. The data collected from the Second Hospital of Jilin University and Second Division of First Hospital of Jilin University) were used as the training dataset and those from Jilin Central Hospital as the validation dataset. We developed a nomogram for predicting treatment failure using a logistic regression model with backward elimination. The performance of the nomogram was assessed by analyzing the C-statistic and the calibration plots. We also plotted decision curves to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the nomogram.@*RESULTS@#A total of 977 episodes of PDAP were included in the analysis (625 episodes in the training dataset and 352 episodes in the validation dataset). During follow-up, 78 treatment failures occurred in the training dataset and 35 in the validation dataset. A multivariable logistic regression prediction model was established, and the predictors in the final nomogram model included serum albumin, peritoneal dialysate white cell count on day 5, PD duration, and type of causative organisms. The nomogram showed a good performance in predicting treatment failure, with a C-statistic of 0.827 (95% CI: 0.784-0.871) in the training dataset and of 0.825 (95% CI: 0.743-0.908) in the validation dataset. The nomogram also performed well in calibration in both the training and validation datasets.@*CONCLUSION@#The established nomogram has a good accuracy in estimating the risk of treatment failure in PDAP patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Yishen Tongluofang in treating oligosperm type male infertility with kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome and explore its effect on serum sex hormones and seminal plasma microenviro. Method:One hundred and four patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 52 cases each. Patients in control group took compound Xuanju capsules orally, 3 capsules/time, 3 times/day. Patients in observation group took Yishen Tongluofang, 1 dose/day. Treatment courses continued three months and followed up for three months in both groups. The pregnancy situations of spouses within six months were recorded. Examination of semen parameters before and after treatment and score of kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome were conducted. The levels of seminal plasma zinc, fructose, elastase, acid phosphatase and α-glucosidase, serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), prolactin (PRT) and testosterone (T) were detected before and after treatment. Result:During the observation period of six months, the pregnancy rate of spouses in the observation group was 22.00%, higher than 10.00% in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (χ2=2.678,P>0.05). The clinical efficacy in the observation group was better than that of the control group (Z=2.326,P<0.01). Sperm concentration, sperm motility, sperm motility, normal morphological sperm and linear movement speed of the observation group were all superior to those of the control group (P<0.01). The levels of zinc and fructose in seminal plasma of the observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.01), and the score of kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome was lower than that of the control group (P<0.01). Serum FSH, LH and PRT levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.01), and the T level was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01). The seminal plasma elastase of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, while the levels of acid phosphatase and α-glucosidase were higher than those of the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion:Yishen Tongluofang can significantly improve sperm parameters, regulate the level of sex hormones and seminal plasma environment in patients with oligosperm type male infertility, and improve the tendency of spouse pregnancy. Its clinical efficacy is better,so it is worthy of further research and application.

ABSTRACT

To systematically review the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic the-rapy in treating hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(HICH) patients compared with minimally invasive surgery or basic treatment. In this study, the four Chinese databases, the four English databases, Chinese Clinical Trial Registry and ClinicalTrail.gov, all above were systematically and comprehensively retrieved from the time of database establishment to September 10, 2020. Rando-mized controlled trials(RCTs) were screened out according to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria established in advanced. The methodological quality of included studies was evaluated by the tool named "Cochrane bias risk assessment 6.1". Meta-analysis of the included studies was performed using RevMan 5.4, and the quality of outcome indicators was evaluated by the GRADE system. Finally, 17 studies were included, involving 1 852 patients with HICH, and the overall quality of the included studies was not high. According to Meta-analysis,(1)CSS score of the group of acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy was superior to the group of minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy(MD=-3.50,95%CI[-4.39,-2.61],P<0.000 01);(2)NIHSS score of the group of acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy was superior to the group of minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy(MD=-4.78,95%CI[-5.55,-4.00],P<0.000 01);(3)the cerebral hematoma volume of the group of acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy was superior to the group of minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy(MD=-4.44,95%CI[-5.83,-3.04],P<0.000 01);(4)ADL score of the group of acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy was superior to the group of minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy(MD=20.81,95%CI[17.25,24.37],P<0.000 01);(5)the GCS score of the group of acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy was superior to the group of minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy(MD=2.41,95%CI[1.90,2.91],P<0.000 01). The GRADE system showed an extremely low level of evidence for the above outcome indicators. Adverse reactions were mentioned only in two literatures, with no adverse reactions reported. The available evidence showed that acupuncture combined with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy had a certain efficacy in patients of HICH compared with minimally invasive surgery or basic therapy. However, due to the high risk of bias in the included studies, its true efficacy needs to be verified by more high-quality studies in the future.

ABSTRACT

To overview of systematic reviews/Meta-analysis of Xingnaojing Injection(XNJ) in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH). The systematic reviews concerning XNJ in the treatment of ICH were retrieved from four Chinese databases, four English databases, Chinese Clinical Trial Registry and ClinicalTrail.gov, with the retrieval time set from their inception to September 2020. Following the independent screening and data extraction by two researchers, a measurement tool to assess systematic evaluation 2(AMSTAR 2) and grades of recommendation, assessment, development and evaluation(GRADE) system were used to evaluate the metho-dological, reporting and evidence qualities of the 10 included systematic reviews. The results showed that XNJ was superior to the wes-tern medicine or conventional treatment in improving the effective rate and National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NIHSS) score, Barthel index(BI), and Glasgow coma scale(GCS) score and Chinese stroke scale(CSS) score, and reducing the mortality and cerebral hematoma volume, without inducing obvious adverse reactions. In general, the methodological, reporting and evidence qualities of the 10 included systematic reviews were poor. The AMSTAR 2 scores showed that key items No. 2 and No. 16 failed to meet the stan-dard, resulting in poor methodological quality. There was only one outcome indicator graded by GRADE as intermediate quality, 43% indicators as low quality, 42% indicators as extremely low quality, and none as high quality. These available evidences have suggested that the methodological, reporting and evidence qualities of the systematic evaluation concerning XNJ for the treatment of ICH need to be improved. Most evidences support that XNJ was better than the western medicine or conventional treatment in the treatment of ICH, but the methodological quality and the reliability of outcome indicators in relevant systematic review were low. More high-quality studies are still required for further verification.

ABSTRACT

The study aims to analyze the outcome indicators of randomized controlled trial(RCT) of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the treatment of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(HICH) in recent three years, and thus provide suggestions for the future studies in this field. Four English databases, four Chinese databases and two online registration websites of clinical trials were searched. The RCTs published between January 2018 and September 2020 were screened. The risk of bias was assessed and outcome measures were classified. A total of 151 839 articles were retrieved, of which 44 RCTs were included for analysis after screening. The outcome measures of the included RCTs were classified into 7 categories, among which the symptoms/signs category showed the highest reporting rate. National Institute of Health stroke scale(72.73%) was the most frequently reported outcome indicator, while the vo-lume of intracerebral hemorrhage determined by computerized tomography(36.36%) was the most frequently reported lab test outcome. Most studies collect the outcomes at the end of treatment, while 9 studies reported long-term outcomes 3 months or more after onset. Compared with those of international clinical trials, the application of some of the outcomes was reasonable, focusing on patients' symptoms, quality of life and objective outcomes. However, there were still several problems: unclear primary and secondary outcome measures, insufficient attention to long-term prognosis, insufficient attention to social function, few TCM outcomes, lack of measurement blindness and the use of unreasonable composite outcomes. It is recommended that researchers should rationally design the outcome indicators of clinical trials and develop the core outcome set.

ABSTRACT

To systematically review the efficacy and safety of Naoxueshu Oral Liquid in treatment of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, four Chinese databases, four English databases, clinical trials registration center(ClinicalTrials.gov) and Chinese clinical trial registry were retrieved. The retrieval time was from the establishment of each database to September 9, 2020. According to the set criteria, the randomized controlled trial(RCT) of Naoxueshu Oral Liquid combined with conventional Western medicine was selected. The "Cochrane bias risk assessment" tool was used to evaluate the quality of the included studies. RevMan 5.4.1 was used to conduct Meta-analysis of the included studies and GRADE system was used to evaluate the evidence quality of the outcome indicators. Eleven studies were finally included, with a total sample size of 1 221 cases, 612 cases in the treatment group and 609 cases in the control group. Meta-analysis showed that Naoxueshu Oral Liquid combined with conventional Western medicine had no significant difference compare with conventional Western medicine in reducing National Institute of health stroke scale(NIHSS) after 2 weeks of treatment for hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(MD=-1.59,95%CI[-3.46,0.29],P=0.10), but was superior to conventional Western medicine after 30 d of treatment(MD=-1.16,95%CI [-1.39,-0.94],P<0.000 01). Naoxueshu Oral Liquid combined with conventional Western medicine was superior to conventional Western medicine in improving Glasgow coma scale(MD=1.00,95%CI[0,2.00],P=0.05) and reducing the incidence of secondary brain insults(RR=0.38,95%CI[0.24,0.59],P<0.000 1), but there was no significant difference in increasing Barthel index(MD=1.00,95%CI[-0.30,2.30],P=0.13). In terms of effective rate, studies using Guideline for clinical trials of new patent Chinese medicines, NHISS or Glasgow outcome scale(GOS) had shown that Naoxueshu Oral Liquid combined with conventional Western medicine was superior to conventional Western medicine(RR_(Guideline for clinical trials of new patent Chinese medicines)=1.27,95%CI[1.10,1.46],P=0.001;RR_(NHISS)=1.26,95%CI[1.13,1.40],P<0.000 1;RR_(GOS)=1.54,95%CI[1.22,1.93],P=0.000 2). In reduction of hematoma volume, Naoxueshu Oral Liquid combined with conventional Western medicine was superior to conventional Western medicine after 2 and 4 weeks of treatment(MD_(2 week)=-2.31,95%CI[-3.12,-1.49],P<0.000 01;MD_(4 week)=-2.04,95%CI[-2.41,-1.68],P<0.000 01). GRADE system showed that the evidence level of the above outcome indicators was low and extremely low. In terms of adverse reactions, two of the included studies reported mild adverse reactions, and the rest of studies were not mentioned, so this study was not able to make a positive evaluation of the safety of Naoxueshu Oral Liquid. This study showed that compared with conventional Western medicine, combined Naoxueshu Oral Liquid may be better for hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. However, due to the high bias risk in the included studies, more large-sample and high-quality RCTs are still needed in the future.

ABSTRACT

In the past few decades, our understanding of platelets has made great progress. Platelets play an unexpected central role in cancer and greatly affect the behavior of cancer cells. At the same time, the physiology and phenotype of platelets are also affected by cancer cells. Therefore, platelet-based tumor targeted therapy strategies have attracted the attention of researchers, but the limitations of their application require more attention. In this paper, the strategies of platelet-based tumor targeted therapy are summarized, and the strategies of platelet mimicking nanocarrier delivery, platelet hitch riding, platelet membrane coating biomimetic and engineered platelet targeting are mainly introduced. The easy activation, hard storage and unknown functional and phenotypic changes of platelets were discussed. At the same time, the strategy of platelet-based targeted tumor therapy is reviewed from theoretical basis and practical application. The development potential of platelets in the field of tumor diagnosis and treatment is discussed, which will provide some theoretical reference for the study of platelet-related tumor diagnosis and targeted therapy.

ABSTRACT

Elabela is a newly discovered peptide in recent years. It is the endogenous ligand of Apelin receptor(APJ)and plays an important role in embryonic development and adult organs.Elabela-APJ axis is closely related to organ fibrosis.Elabela can protect the functions of heart and kidney by antagonizing renin-angiotensin system and regulating blood pressure. In addition,it can prevent kidney and heart fibrosis by down-regulating the expression of fibrosis and inflammatory factors. However, there is a positive correlation between the level of Elabela and the degree of liver fibrosis, suggesting that Elabela may play a role in promoting liver fibrosis. This review aims to explore the role of Elabela-APJ axis in renal fibrosis, cardiac fibrosis, and liver fibrosis, and to provide a new therapeutic target for organ fibrosis.

ABSTRACT

Background@#Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious complication that may occur after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), leading to the recommendation of routine chemoprophylaxis by international guidelines. This study aims to determine if short-duration chemoprophylaxis after TKA reduces the incidence of VTE in an Asian population. @*Methods@#A retrospective study of 316 patients who underwent unilateral primary TKA between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2013 was conducted. All patients received mechanical prophylaxis. One hundred seventeen patients (37%) received additional chemoprophylaxis, whereas 199 patients (63%) did not. A Doppler ultrasound (DUS) of both lower limbs was conducted for all patients within 6 days after surgery (median = 3 days) to assess for both proximal and distal DVT. Chemoprophylaxis in the form of enoxaparin (low molecular weight heparin; LMWH), aspirin, or heparin was administered until patients had a normal DUS, for a median duration of 4 days. Patients were followed up clinically for a minimum of 6 months to monitor for delayed or recurrent VTE and at least 2 years for patient-reported outcome measures. @*Results@#Overall, 24 patients (7.59%) developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT): three proximal and 21 distal DVTs.Twenty-three of the 24 patients were asymptomatic. Twenty of 199 patients (10.05%) with only mechanical prophylaxis developed DVT, whereas four of 117 patients (3.42%) with additional chemoprophylaxis developed DVT.Multivariate analysis showed that chemoprophylaxis use was associated with reduced incidence of DVT (odds ratio = 0.19, p value = 0.011). Other factors associated with increased DVT incidence include female gender (odds ratio = 5.45, p value = 0.034), positive history of cancer (odds ratio = 5.14, p value = 0.044), and increased length of stay in hospital (odds ratio = 1.19, p value < 0.001). @*Conclusions@#Our study has shown that despite the low incidence of DVT in Asian patients undergoing TKA, shortduration chemoprophylaxis might be effective in reducing the incidence of DVT. However, most DVTs observed in our study were distal and may be of limited clinical significance. Further studies are needed to investigate the impact of chemoprophylaxis use on the incidence of PE and overall mortality rates among Asian patients.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to analyze the outcomes of randomized controlled trial(RCT) of Chinese herbal medicine formula(CHMF) in the treatment of vascular cognitive impairment caused by cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD-VCI), and provide suggestions for future studies in this field. Three English databases, four Chinese databases, and two online registration websites of clinical trials were searched with use of the search strategy established in advance. Relevant RCTs published in recent ten years were screened, and necessary information was extracted to assess the risk of bias and analyze the outcomes of these RCTs. As a result, a total of 10 461 articles were retrieved, of which 8 681 were kept after de-duplication, and 41 RCTs were included after screening, with a generally higher risk of bias. The outcomes of included RCTs were classified into 9 categories, namely, clinical symptom outcomes, neuroimaging outcomes, neuroelectrophysiological outcomes, blood biochemical outcomes, hemorheology outcomes, physical signs, syndrome scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), clinical effective rate, and safety outcomes. Among them, the most frequently reported outcomes of included RCTs were blood biochemical outcomes, and clinical symptom outcomes showed the highest reporting rate. Besides, 9 RCTs reported syndrome scores of TCM as the outcomes and illustrated corresponding evaluation criteria. The analysis showed that the application of RCT outcomes in this field had clinical rationality and limitations, and there were also some deficiencies in the trial design level, namely, no distinction between primary and secondary outcomes, insufficient blind methods, not detailed description of outcomes, disunity of evaluation tools, and despised endpoint outcomes. These limitations and deficiencies were negatively affecting the quality of RCTs of CHMF in the treatment of CSVD-VCI. Therefore, we suggest that future researchers should be well prepared in the top-level design stage, and actively construct the core outcome set of this field, so as to improve the quality of clinical trials.

ABSTRACT

Aim To explore the effect of miR-152 on proliferation of cardiac fibroblasts ( CFS) in diabetic cardiomyopathy. Methods Diabetic cardiomyopathy model was established in SD rats by STZ injection, and CFS proliferation model was established by high glucose (33. 3 mmol • L ~1). HE and Masson staining were performed in paraformaldehyde fixed myocardium of rats. Western blot determined a-SMA and collagen I protein expression. qPCK detected gene expression of miR-152. MTT assay analyzed the proliferation of cells. Results HE and Masson staining showed the higher level of myocardial collagen in diabetic cardiomyopathy model. Furthermore, the myocardial myo-cytes lined up in disorder. Western blot showed that the expressions of a-SMA and collagen I were up-regulated in the diabetes mellitus ( DM ) group, while the expression of miR-152 was down-regulated. The result of the in vitro experiment showed that a-SMA and collagen I expressions were down-regulated after trans-fected miR-152 mimics. The proliferation of CFS was also down-regulated after transfected miR-152 mimics. Conclusions miR-152 plays an important role in the proliferation of CFS and may ameliorate diabetic cardiomyopathy.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#Investigate the influence of benazepril and amlodipine on the expression of secretin (PZ) and somatostatin (SS) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).@*METHODS@#Forty-five SHRs (14 weeks old, male) were randomly assigned into 3 groups (=15):SHR group, Benazepril group (which was given benazepril 0.90 mg·kg·d) and Amlodipine group (SHRs were given amlodipine 0.45 mg· kg·d), taking WistarKyoto(WKY) as normal control (=15), meanwhile, rats in SHR group and WKY group were given the same volume of distilled water. After 8 weeks of intervention, the expression of protein and mRNA of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi was detected by enzyme-linked immunoassay and RT-PCR.@*RESULTS@#After 8 weeks of intervention, compared with the WKY group, the expression of protein and mRNA of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi was increased significantly in SHR group (<0. 05). Compared with SHR group, the expression of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi was decreased significantly in Benazepril group and Amlodipine group (<0.05). Compared with Benazepril group, in Amlodipine group the expression of PZ mRNA in duodenum and SS mRNA in sinuses ventriculi was decreased more significantly (<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The regulation disorder of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi exists in SHR. The antihypertensive effect of benazepril and amlodipine may be realized by regulating the expression of PZ and SS, while the regulation of amlodipine is more obvious than benazepril.

ABSTRACT

Objective To understand the current research focus and trends in the field of snail intestinal flora. Methods The literature focusing on snail intestinal flora and published from 1998 to 2017 were retrieved from the core database of Web of Science. The quantitative analysis of literature was then conducted by using CiteSpace software based on the bibliometricsmethod. The research trends were then summarized systematically, and the potential research fronts and focuses were explored. Results Totally 139 articles were identified in the field of snail intestinal flora. The top three countries with highest publications included the United States of American, Brazil, and South Korea; while the top three institutions were Kyung Hee University, Osvaldo Cruz Foundation, and Oxford University. Five terms were identified as the key words in this field, including diversity, cellulose, Achatina fulica, lignocelluloses, and species nova. Meanwhile, 5 critical papers with the citation frequency over 15 were recognized, and 5 study clusters were formed including the application, diversity, and function of intestinal flora, difference of snail source and flora, and newly discovered bacteria in the snail intestine. Conclusion The current research focuses on intestinal flora of snails include the diversity, function and application of intestinal flora.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the sealing effect of transient pinus massoniana bark extract (PMBE)pre-coating on dentin tubules and its wear resistance so as to provide an experimental basis for PMBE to be used to prevent and treat dentin hypersensitivity. Methods The model of dentin hypersensitivity was established by acid etching method. The samples were transient pre-coating with 80 g/L of PMBE ethanol solution, and then some of them experienced brushing wear treatment with ethanol group and fluorine vanish group as negative and positive controls. The surface and profile morphologies of the samples were observed using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM)in each group. The area of dentin tubular openings (ADTO)and percentage area of dentin tubular openings (PADTO)were also measured. Results The dentin tubules were opened completely and the lumen of dentin tubules was empty in ethanol group. The dentin tubules were completely or basically closed and some films or plugging could be seen in the lumen of dentin tubules in fluorine vanish/immediate group and PMBE/immediate group. The dentin tubules were partly opened and some wear marks could be seen on the dentin surface in fluorine vanish/wear groups,PMBE/wear groups.ADTO and PADTO in ethanol group were significantly higher than those in fluorine vanish groups and PMBE groups (P<0.05).ADTO and PADTO did not significantly differ between fluorine vanish/wear groups and PMBE/wear groups (P>0.05),which were all significantly higher than those in fluorine vanish/immediate group and PMBE/immediate group (P<0.05).Conclusion Local transient pre-coating of PMBE ethanol solution can achieve fine immediate sealing effect of dentin tubules and some degree of wear resistance.
